Sunday, Mother's Day I was in a car accident. I was driving home from my friend's house and it had been raining the night before and was still drizzling. I came around a curve and hit a wet spot and braked and turned the steering wheel the opposite direction. When I did that my car lost complete control and I spun 3 times and landed in the ditch on the opposite side of the road facing the opposite direction from where I was heading. Scared me to death. Called my mom and then my grandpa. They had to come get me, I was a nervous wreck. My whole body is so sore!!! Hit my head against the driver's window and the head rest. Hit my knee on the steering wheel. Still not sure where I hit my right leg/side but it sure hurts bad too. I'm grateful to be OK though and I know it could have been a lot worse. Here's a picture of it right before the tow truck loaded it up.
Then Monday I went back to the Hematologist and found out that I had to get IV Iron treatment... He wanted to do it then but I didn't feel like it so he scheduled it for today. He told me there was risk of shock and that I would need pre-treatment medicines. Honestly when I walked out of his office I was a complete mess. Since my grandpa had to take me to the appointment I asked him to take me by Sonic to get a Caramel Java Chiller. It helped a little. When I woke up this morning I was nervous and not wanting to have the treatment for fear of the unknown. I've been through so many things that really this was nothing, but yet my iron levels are something I've had on my mind lately since getting out of the hospital. My mom ended up working out a way to meet me up at the clinic and stay with me for the 3 hour ordeal. They hooked me up to the IV.
And then pumped me up with a steroid to prevent a reaction, and benedryl (which made me incredibly drowsy), and an acid pill. After that all went through the IV they gave me a sample dose of the iron stuff. Waited 20 mins to see if I had any reactions and then started the hour or so treatment....While waiting for the treatment to finish I fought sleep because I'm some kind of weirdo, lol. Talked to my mom some and listened to my iPod... I never leave home without it :)
I'm still sore from the wreck and tired from the treatment today (they said it was a possibility)...I'm off to catch up on my DVR and go to sleep soon.
